What to Major in College?

Posted on 26 April 2013 under Uncategorized

My son is a sophomore at an Ivy League college and when he came home for spring break last month we had a really nice conversation about the fact that he hasn’t been able to pick a major. It is very hard for him to choose a major as he likes a lot of different things, but he can’t register for his junior year until he chooses a major, even as a web design mumbai agent he will need to pick a major like computer science if he wants to work on computers for the rest of his life. He said that he may want to major in graphic design so that he can arrange marketing campaigns and even do things like design a web page for someone if they wanted to have those services.

His college career center hasn’t done much for him as they are telling him to meet with an advisor to help him pick a major so he can get his future started. He really wants to figure out what he wants to do so he can register and I don’t blame him. I told him that if he doesn’t choose a major soon that all of the good classes are going to be taken and filled up with students who already had a head start on their registrations. I know that it’s hard for a twenty year old to decide what he would like to do with the rest of his life but the pressure is on him to choose. I hope he doesn’t choose what to do in a haste and then regrets his decision but I do want him to consider what he wants to do and how he would like to spend the rest of his life. Choosing a career is very important.
